Omer Mac "OM" McKown died April 16, 2007 in Albuquerque, NM at home in bed very peacefully. Omer was born and raised in Maud, OK on September 1, 1923. He was preceded in death by Floyd Ralph and Ola Helen McKown. He got a Bachelor's Degree in history from the University of Oklahoma. He retired as a Major from the United States Army and survived in three major wars WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He is survived in death by his beloved wife, Mary McKown. He is also survived by three of his four children, Annette and Carl Smith, Penelope and James Arp, and Christina and Ray Adams. He is also survived by three of his four grandchildren, Nella Rogers - Albuquerque, NM, Spencer and wife, Desirey Lukesh - Los Lunas, NM, and Jericho Lukesh and Jordan MacDonald - Albuquerque, NM. He also has five great-grandchildren who are Paul and Steven Pierce, Noel Olivia, LaNina Sydney and Amanda Rose Lukesh. His surviving brothers are Jerry O. McKown, Tommy C. McKown, and Roland R. McKown. He was also preceded in death by his son, Spencer Norman McKown; grandson, Thomas Stewart Smith; brothers, Floyd Lavern McKown, Kenneth Lee McKown. He was a recovering alcoholic of 30 years at the Heights AA Club. He also had several Masonic affiliations. Viewing will be at Strong-Thorne Mortuary from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2007 followed by the Memorial Service at St. Marks on the Mesa at 4:30 p.m. Flowers may be sent to the church.
