Obituary for SAAVEDRA

Raymond Y. Saavedra, 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2007 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born July 5, 1926. Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Virginia Saavedra, who was his primary caregiver and devoted spouse. One son, Carlos Saavedra and fiance, Margie Baca; daughter, Cindy Trujillo and Manuel Chavez; daughter, Esther Lucero and husband, Orlando Lucero. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Monica Trujillo, Michael Trujillo, Ashley Lucero, Nicholas Lucero, Yvonne Saavedra and James Garcia. Raymond was also blessed with a large extended family (Nuanes's) who loved him and will miss him dearly, as well as many nephews, nieces, and friends. Raymond was a self-employed contractor for 35 years and owned Saavedra Lath & Plaster. He was also a three term president for Local 254, The Plasters & Cement Masons Union, which afforded him numerous business contracts, who will also miss him very much. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 16, 2007 at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. Mass of Resurrection will be Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Church, 12500 Carmel NE, and Interment will follow mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Beau Nuanes, Brett Nuanes, Lani Kahawaii, Christopher Abeyta, Rick Nuanes, and Steve Nuanes. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Trujillo, PJ Miramontes, Nicholas Lucero, Michael Trujillo, and James Garcia.
