Obituary for GARCIA

Felipe Garcia, age 85, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Good Friday morning, April 6, 2007 at a local hospital. He was born March 16, 1922 in Taos, NM, to Cirilo and Lucia Garcia. He married Sally M. Coca on May 5, 1947 in Springer, NM. She preceded him in death on May 31, 1991 after 44 years of marriage. Mr. Garcia was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Army Company B, as a Technician Fourth Grade, in the 147th Infantry Division and serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Philippine Liberation. He was stationed in Hawaii, Okinawa, and The Philippine Islands. He retired after 28 years from Philmont Scout Ranch, Cimarron, NM. He also worked at Winrock Center for 21 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and attended Los Volcanos Share Your Care day center. He is survived by his children, Felipe J. Garcia and wife, Laura, Irene F. Garcia-Glazener and husband, Wayne H. Glazener, Dean R. Garcia and Sally Ann Garcia, all of Albuquerque; seven grandsons and one granddaughter, Phillip Matthew Garcia, Adam Joseph Garcia, Benjamin Phillip Glazener, Jedidiah James Garcia-Glazener and wife, Corianne, Rory Oliver Garcia and his wife, Amanda, Elliott Franklin Garcia, Nicholas Vincent Torrez and Colleen Starla Torrez; great-grandchildren, Noah Benjamin Glazener and Aiden Nicholas Garcia; sisters, Virginia Cortez and her late husband, Jesse, Helen Garcia and husband, Adonago and Pauline Garcia and husband, Tiofilo; brothers, Gilbert Garcia and wife, Lillian and John Garcia and wife, Marie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Espinoza and brother, Joe Garcia. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, April 10, 2007, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 11, 2007, 9:00 a.m., at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande, 5901 St. Joseph Dr. NW. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 1:00 p.m., with military honors. Pallbearers are his grandsons and honorary pallbearers are Ralph Armijo and Leonard Lawson.
