Obituary for SANDY

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday April 04, 2007

Kenneth Frank Sandy, 91, passed away quietly after losing his battle with cancer on Sunday, April 1, 2007. We are grateful that he suffers no more and is resting in our Father's presence. He is survived by his wife, Elsie Dell; son, Ray Sandy; grandchild, Keith and wife, Deanna; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Tarren Sandy. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jennifer Sandy. He was best known by his grandchildren as "Pappy". He was born February 4, 1916 in Midland, MI. Home now was Moriarty, NM. He served proudly in the U.S. Army and retired from Trailways Transporation Company where he was best known by his CB handle as "Big Eagle". He prided himself on his love for gardening and could talk to you by the hour about 'how to" and share stories of his Trailways bus driving experiences. He loved the great outdoors to include fishing the Gunnison River in Colorado. Often he and Elsie would retreat to their cabin in the Jemez Mountains. After retirement, he and Elsie moved to Elephant Butte and enjoyed having their grandchildren come to stay. A Memorial Service will be conducted by APD Police Chaplain, Briane Denison on Thursday, April 5, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. (505) 345-3536.
