Obituary for MEYER

Merlin R. Meyer, a resident of Albuquerque for 42 years, formerly of Marshalltown, IA, died March 30, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Mary Meyer and brother, LeRoy Meyer. Merlin was born in Marshall County, IA, January 13, 1926 and raised on a farm near the small town of Haverhill, IA. After leaving the farm he went to work for Nichols and Greene Shoe Store and the Farm Bureau in Marshalltown before starting his banking career with Security Bank. After 13 years he moved to Albuquerque where he joined Albuquerque National Bank (Sunwest Bank) from which he retired in 1989. He is survived by his wife, Anita; son, Dennis Meyer and wife, Kathy; daughters, Denise Wolff and husband, Neil and Linda Bridge and husband, Doug; grandchildren, Kellee and David and wife, Danielle Meyer, Justin and Jereme Fjelseth, and Sierra Bridge; five great-grandchildren, Jessica Marie, Troy Eugene, and Nathanial Leroy Meyer, Destiny Rae Tafoya and Tristyn Alan Fjelseth; sisters, Ilo Jean Jansen and Gladys Halsted; and several nieces, nephews, and great nephews and nieces. Mr. Meyer was a member of Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, honorary member of the Knights of Columbus and member of BPOE Elks Lodge # 461 and was part of the Elks Clowns (Bank-O). Rosary will be recited Sunday, April 1, 2007, 4:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE with Deacon Byron Wicker, reciter. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Rosary. Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 2, 2007, 9:00 a.m. at Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Road, NE with Fr. Tom Zotter, celebrant. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd., NE. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Presbyterian Hospice, 8300 Constitution NE, 87110.
