Jose Esequiel Sanchez, age 78, of Albuquerque NM., passed away Thursday, March 15, 2007. Jose E. Sanchez was born in Arroyo Seco, NM, May 28, 1928. He came to Albuquerque at the age of 14 and worked in Albuquerque until he was 18 years old. At the age of 18 Jose joined the Army and served for 22 years. Jose fought in the war in Korea and in Vietnam and retired in 1966. He answered the recall to active duty in 1970, went to Vietnam in 1971 and was released from active duty in 1972. Jose is survived by his wife, Lillian Sanchez of Albuquerque; children, Jo Ann Sanchez of Taos, Grace Sanchez of Taos, Delores Tafoya (Jerry) of Albuquerque, Erlinda Valerio (Andrew) of ID; grandchildren, David Martinez (Amy) of CO, Cory Tafoya (Jennifer) of KY, Amanda Ledoux of Albuquerque, Don Rowell of Taos, Richard Rowell of Taos, Jennifer Valerio of ID, and Noah Valerio of ID; great-grandchildren, Miranda Haley Ledoux, Matthew Tafoya, Marcus Ledoux, and Eli Tafoya; stepchildren, Celina Hossom (Mark) of Albuquerque, Roy Gonzales (Michele) of TX, Adam Gonzales (Barbara) of Albuquerque; step-grandchildren, Desiree Gonzales, Amanda Gonzales, Ryan Gonzales, Carlos Gonzales, Shyanne Gonzales, Santiago Gonzales, Shaun Lopez, Grant Hossom, and Justin Hossom; sisters, Adelia Marquez and Eufie Jaramillo of CA; brother, Agapito Sanchez of Taos; sisters, Prescilla Vigil and Rufina Hill of Silver City, Eloida Morris of Albuquerque, Jerry Sanchez, Lucy Tafoya (Tony) of Albuquerque, Gloria Saiz of Albuquerque; brother, Ernest Sanchez; sister, Elsie Salgado, Eloy Sanchez (Martha) of Albuquerque. A Graveside Service will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with U.S. Army Honors.
