Obituary for ARAGON

Michael Ted Aragon, 75, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2007. He is preceded in death by his parents, Candelario and Epifania Aragon; brothers, Vicente, Napoleon, Ruben, Benny, Nestor and sister, Henrietta. His surviving members are Art Aragon, Carmen Ulibarri, Molly Vigil, Pauline Lamb, Mary Quintana, Angelina Vigil, and Bella Aragon. Surviving is his beloved wife of 49 years, Sibilyn Aragon; sons, David Aragon and Michael Aragon Jr.; daughter, Carmela Aragon and daughter-in-law, Doris Aragon; grandchildren, David Aragon Jr., Christopher Aragon, and Ariela Aragon-Montano. Mr. Aragon was a Veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army. He received a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from NM Highlands University. In his 32-year teaching career, he taught in Santa Fe and Albuquerque Public Schools. He was a member of the National Education Association and other educational organizations. He earned the friendship and respect of his colleagues. The influence he instilled in so many of his students will be long and lasting. As a teacher, he inspired youths to succeed in academics, often encouraging them through opportunities to play basketball in his school's team. Later in his career, he became an APS administrator. He was active at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic minister and an usher. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Lion's Club, which he held the positions as president and treasure of the Lion's club. Mr. Aragon was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed duck and big game hunting, camping, as well as fishing. He was a dedicated sports fan and supported the Lobos. He loved everybody and was loved by all. His family dearly misses him and will find ways to celebrate his spirit. Services will be held at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church located on 4th and Alameda NW, in Albuquerque. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2007. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2007. The reception will follow at Nativity's Parish Hall immediately following the Mass. Burial Services will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. with U.S. Army Honors.
