Obituary for BRANNAN

Richard Brannan passed away Sunday, February 4, 2007, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gloria; sons, Joe and wife Echo, of Lexington Park, MD, Steven and wife Pat of Eunice, NM, Rick and wife CanDee of Aztec, NM, and Leo and wife Kathy of Albuquerque; daughters, Betty Tierney and husband D.J. of Beeville, TX, Rosemary Stakvel and husband Curley of Cedar Crest, NM, Paula Hayden and husband Jeff of Albuquerque, and Laura Wood and husband Woodie of Beeville, TX. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Nena Brannan (Glen) of Albuquerque and Evelyn Brannan (Joe) of Belen and many nieces and nephews. Richard was born on Halloween Day in 1925. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and a WWII Navy veteran. He received his BS from Oklahoma State, a Masters from NM State in Educational Psychology and a Masters of Science Teaching from NM Tech. He taught in Belen for many years and had a great impact on hundreds of budding scientists. He was president of SW Geological Society and was a NM district director of the Boy Scouts of America. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 6, 2007, 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE. Service will be Wednesday, February 7, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary Lomas Chapel. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico Cancer Foundation, 4901 Lang, NE, Albuquerque 87109, to Presbyterian Hospice, 8100 Constitution, NE, Albuquerque 87110, or to the charity of your choice.
