Obituary for GARCIA

Alfred M. "Fred" Garcia, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1968, died on January 28, 2007. Fred was born in Las Vegas, NM on May 17, 1924. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, awarded the Purple Heart. Fred was a proud member of the American Legion Post 99 and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Fred was a professional automotive parts man working for Chevrolet car dealers in Las Vegas, NM, Espanola, NM, and Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn M. Garcia and daughter, Theresa. Ten children, 18 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren survive him. He is survived by his daughters, Bernadine Martinez and husband, Adolph; grandchildren, Chad and Adolfo; Rita Gill and husband, John; grandchild, Andrea; Annette Ackerman and husband, Nelson; grandchildren, Nicole and Nelson, Jr.; Jeanette Martinez and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Zachary, Brent Jr., Jaylen, Madelyn, and Landon. He is survived by his sons, Alfred Ronald Garcia and wife, Diana; grandson, Ronnie; Benjamin Garcia and wife, Dolores; grandchildren, Monica and Shelly; Glen Garcia and wife, Annette; grandchild, Dawn; Andrew Garcia; Diego Garcia; and grandchild, Oceana; Robert Garcia and wife, Katie; grandchildren, Hannah and Jesse; son-in-law, Tony Garcia; grandchildren, Renee and Anthony. Rosary will be recited at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 1, 2007 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held Friday, February 2, 2007, 2:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. French Mortuary, Inc. 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE 275-3500
