Clorinda "Cora" Griego Barba, age 84, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2007. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Belen. Cora was born in Peralta, NM. She moved to California in 1954 but returned home in 2001. She was born to a family of 15 children, a very close knit family. Everyone was welcomed to her home with a meal and coffee. Her son, Henry once asked her "why do you think everyone is hungry?" Her passion was her family and she enjoyed cooking the most delicious dishes, using a pinch of this and a dash of that, which makes it difficult to reproduce her creations because they were cooked with the greatest spice, "love." Clorinda was preceded in death by her parents, Margarita Romero Griego and Edwardo Griego; loving husband of 34 years, Miguel Barba in 1990; siblings, Adelaida Alderete, Eufemia Armijo, Adelina Torres, Antonia Armijo, Hilario Griego, Lalo Griego, and Adolfo Griego; she is survived by her children, Stella Sanchez of Roswell, NM, Henry Barba and his wife, Camerina of Whittier, CA, and Patricia Acosta and her husband, Tony of Belen, NM; five grandchildren, Tony Acosta, III, Marina Acosta Walker, Tabbatha, Natalie, and Henry Barba, Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Nicole, and Heather Acosta, David Delgado, Jr., and Ashlee Acosta; her loving siblings, Senaida Sanchez of Tome, NM, Louisa Lovato of Bosque Farms, NM, Mela Jaramillo of Belen, and Lorenzo Griego of Los Lunas, NM; she is also survived by many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 26, 2007 at Romero Funeral Home Chapel from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Belen with the Funeral Service to follow at 10:00 a.m. with Dr. Bruce Baker officiating.
