Obituary for TOOHEY

Michael (Mike) J. Toohey, 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, died Sunday, January 14, 2007. He is survived by his loving and dear wife of 53 years, Bennita; children, Timothy Toohey of Albuquerque, Kevin Toohey and wife, Mitzi, of San Antonio, TX, and Laura Toohey Ramirez of Spokane,WA; four grandchildren; mother, Marcella Toohey of Albuquerque; brother, Jim Toohey and wife, Marva, of Chagrin Falls, OH; and several other relatives and friends. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Michael J. Toohey, Sr. He was born on February 4, 1932 in Spalding, Nebraska and served in the United States Navy from 1951-1955, during the Korean Conflict. All of his working career, Mike was in the retail clothing and Western Wear business. He began during high school in Hastings, NE and also worked in Rapid City, SD and Newcastle, WY. In Albuquerque, Mike was a part owner and Vice-President of Cooper's, Inc. and Western Warehouse, and was well respected within the Western Wear Industry. In Mike's words, "I was a decent bridge player, average bowler and a bad golfer." He was a loving husband, father, son, and brother and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A Prayer Service will be held at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
