LEWIS E. Sgt/Major Lewis E. Jones, 86, of Albuquerque, passed away on January 10, 2007. He was born in Parsons, KS on October 7, 1920. He spent his entire military career in the U.S. Army, serving tours in Japan during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He spent the majority of his career providing communications support for U.S. Troops around the world, and led the New England Strategic Command at the pinnacle of his military career. He retired after 28 years of distinguished service near his family in Albuquerque, NM. He went on to work for the NM Engineering Research Institute for 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary of 64 years; sister, Ruth Hubbard of Austin, TX; son, Eddie Jones and wife, Nancy; daughter, Becky and husband, Roland Scott; grandchildren, Amy Schum and husband, Kevin, Holly Lovato and husband, Matt of Albuquerque, Phillip Villella of Boulder, CO, Andrea Villella of Las Vegas, NV; and great-grandchildren, Sabrina Schum, Noah Lovato, Andrew Villella, Desiree and Angel Resars. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Brian Jones. There will be a private family Service at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
