Obituary for ANDERSON

Judy Anderson, 64, died on Friday. She began her insurance career in Los Angeles and then relocated to Albuquerque in 1976 where she established The Anderson Insurance Group in 1989 (later changed to The Benefits Group) specializing in health insurance; serving both life and health insurance brokers throughout New Mexico. Judy was first elected to the Board of Directors of NAIFA-Central NM in 1991 and served on the Executive Board as National Committeeman and President; and in 1997 was voted Insurance and Financial Professional of the Year. Judy also served eight terms as the Legislative Chair of NAIFA NM and was past state president; she also was awarded the prestigious Jack Berg Memorial underwriter of the Year Award. Ms. Anderson joined AHIA in 1992 and twice served on the Agents' National War Chest Committee, as a Regional Co-Chair on the membership committee and served four years on the National Board of Directors. In the community, Judy served on the Board of Directors for the Association of Commerce & Industry and the American Business Women's Association, Charter Chapter. She was also Chair of the American Business Women's Association Run for Education. Judy has received the Woman of the Year Award from ABWA and was also nominated for the YWCA Women on the Move Award. Judy is survived by her husband, Don Anderson; her daughter: Laura Carter and husband, Jason; and brother: Robert Newman and wife, Linda. A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00a.m. - 12:00 and the Life Celebration Service will be held following at 12:00 noon in the Reflection of Life Chapel (Washington and Cutler NE).
