Phyllis M. (Woods) Lee passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. She was born in Cherryvale, KS to the union of Roxie McGuire and Robert Woods. Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her mother; father; and three step-fathers; a younger brother; and her husband of 59 years, Carroll J. Lee. She is survived by her older brother, Raymond S. Woods; and daughters, Leslie Arruti and husband, Michael who were her caregivers since 2001, Marsha Lee and partner, John Gerleman of San Francisco, and Sandra Warrick and husband, Phil, Sr.; three grandchildren, Shawn Arruti and wife, Ginger, Chez Werner and husband, Scott, and Duane Arruti and wife, Jennifer; three step-grandsons, Phil Warrick, Jr. and wife, Tory, Scott Warrick and wife, Brenda, and Matthew Warrick; nine great-grandchildren, Tristan, Autumn, and Gage Arruti, Hunter and Devin Werner, Damian, Alec, Quinn, and Tess Arruti; and five step-great-grandchildren, Lauren, Madison, Eden, Catherine, and Ingrid Warrick. Mrs. Lee was raised by her Grandparents, whom she dearly loved until the age of five. After this she lived in Belen, NM until 1939 when she graduated from High School. She attended and graduated from UNM with a B.A. in Education. Having worked part-time (54 hours a week) at the telephone company her senior year. Since it was considered a war-time job, Mrs. Lee continued working for the telephone company after graduation. After the birth of her first child, Leslie, she stayed at home to become a full-time mother. Mrs. Lee spent nine years involved with the Girl Scouts in Santa Fe with her oldest daughter. Her Girl Scout Troop was the first troop to be allowed on Philmont Scout Ranch. The Troop also went to the cabana in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Mrs. Lee was a loyal fan of the Santa Fe High School athletic teams while her daughter, Marsha, was in the band. She was given plaques of loyal fan recognition by the basketball team, cheerleaders, and the baseball team. Moving back to Albuquerque in 1968, Mrs. Lee resumed attendance at Lobos Basketball games. She had remained a steadfast Lobos Football fan since 1937. Sandra was carried to her first football game in a bassinet at a few weeks old. Mrs. Lee was a member of Christ the Ray of Hope Lutheran Church. Memorial Services will be Friday, January 12, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at Christ the Ray of Hope Lutheran Church, 7001 San Antonio Dr. NE. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to "Baskets of Hope" or to "The Nolan Johnson Cancer Fund for UNM Children's Hospital," both c/o of Christ the Ray of Hope (CTROH) Lutheran Church, 7001 San Antonio NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109, or to the charity of your choice.
