Obituary for CAMUGLIA

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday December 31, 2006

John C. Camuglia, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1967, peacefully left this earth to be with our Lord on Friday, December 23, 2006 after a very brief illness. A native of Staten Island, NY, John and his family have owned and operated Tully's Meat Market and Deli since June of 1970. He continued to be active in the business until the time of his death and now his son, Johnny Camuglia will continue his father's tradition of providing Albuquerque with authentic Italian food, in honor of his father. John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard where he fed the sailors on Ship 252 thus beginning his life of sharing his enthusiasm for good food. He took up golf in 1991, the high-point of which was a hole-in-one in 1996. While golf was a sport he discovered later in his life, John was always an avid sports fan with his loyalties reserved firmly for the NY Yankees and the NY Giants. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jerry; daughter, Joy Ashley and husband, Shawn of Perry, GA; son, Johnny and wife, Melissa of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Savannah, Shane, and Brenna Ashley of Perry, GA, Victoria and Sarah Camuglia, both of Albuquerque; brothers, Frank and wife, Jessie of Las Vegas, NV, Joseph and wife, Joyce of Albuquerque; sisters-in-law, Joanne and Joan Camuglia of New York, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Camuglia was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby and Louis. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2006, 11:00 a.m., at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution Ave. NE. French Mortuary 1111 University Blvd. NE 843-6333
