Obituary for HANKINS

Clyde Tyson Hankins, born May 5, 1918, went peacefully to be with his Lord on December 18, 2006. An Albuquerque resident of 46 years, he was born in Hansford, Texas, and previously resided in San Diego, California and Lubbock, Texas. He was a faithful husband of 64 years to his wife Gladys; the father of two children, Greg Hankins and his wife Denise of San Diego, California; and Gem Blankenship and her husband Gary of Cedar Crest, NM. He is also survived by grandchildren Grant Blankenship and his wife Shannon; Anna Boyer; and Josh Hankins; and his great grandchildren Teal, Rose, and Lily Hankins; and Aubrie, Morgan, Bethany, and Jack Blankenship who will miss his great humor and loving embrace that he so often and warmly showered upon them. Grandchild Matthew Spiewak preceded him in death. Clyde was a larger than life personality, entertainer, vocalist, and world-class jazz guitarist. His gift of music will be missed by those in the jazz community who have enjoyed his talents and good humor for many years. He served in the Navy in WWII. A visitation for friends and family will be held at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE, Thursday, December 21, 2006, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and a memorial service will be held at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy Blvd., NE, Friday, December 22, 2006, 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd., NE.
