Obituary for THOMSON

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday December 12, 2006

Elaine Thomson. December 15, 1929 to December 6, 2006 (just short of her 77th birthday). She was preceded in her death by her parents, a brother and a sister. She is survived by Paul Thomson, a loving husband of 60 years whom she always called Tommy. She is also survived by her brother, Wesley "Buz" Kimbrel (spouse Lois); children, Kathy Dellinger (spouse Carl), Walt Thomson (spouse Joan) and Candy Paco; grandchildren, Kristy Gustafson (spouse Karn), Michelle and David Paco, Jim and Mark Thomson; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Delaney Gustafson, Makayla Paco and another one on the way. Elaine was the hub of family communication and the memory bank for dates and occasions. She had a love and pride for her family that was unconditional. She was gifted and talented in many ways: she was an excellent horsewoman and leader of a mounted girls scout troop, green thumb for vegetables and flowers, exceptional seamstress who could make up or combine her own designs for original clothes for her family, artist of over 1,000 homemade Christmas ornaments with no two alike and a great cook at a moments notice. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed many camping trips with family and friends. The "welcome door" was always open at her home and heart. She extended her sense of humor and caring nature to others as a friend, confident and counselor of which many of us will miss. Elaine always put others first and did so with such a positive attitude in life she inspired others to do the same. She said her inspiration was her friend Dee. Those who were lucky enough to have her touch your life in any way know she is a treasure and will live in our hearts forever. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Lukes Lutheran Church (Zuni Room) 9100 Menaul Blvd., NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112 on Sunday, December 17, 2006 from 1:30 to 3:30. Private interment of cremains will be held at a later date.
