Lorenzo M. Silva lost his final battle with cancer on Saturday, November 18, 2006. He was born on May 3, 1925 in Carrizozo, New Mexico, as the youngest of 16 siblings to Enrique and Rebecca Silva. Lorenzo was raised on the family ranch in Capitan, New Mexico, where he lived until joining the U.S. Navy in 1946, as a veteran of 30 years. He served in San Diego, Pensacola, Guam, Philadelphia, Little Creek, Norfolk, the Pentagon, and retired as a Master Chief at his last duty station on Kirtland Air Force Base. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 60 years, Violet Silva; daughter, Gail Silva; grandson, Justin Hammond; sister, Addie Najar; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Gary Silva last year. Services will be held Saturday, November 25, 2006, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Family and friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, one hour prior to service.
