Obituary for GARTON

Frederick Eft Garton, 70, of McIntosh, NM, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2006 in Ixtapa, Guerrero Mexico. Frederick was born on May 3, 1936 in Elmer, NJ to Harold and Katherine (Tierney) Garton. He was a member of the AQHA and has been a resident of McIntosh, NM since 1986. After graduating from Putger's with a BS in Ag science Fred met the love of his life in 1961 at a children's camp in the Pocanoes. He graduated in 1962 from the University of Penn, school of Vet med. In 1976 they moved to Roswell, NM. There he began the second love of his live, raising horses. The family moved to McIntosh in 1986 and continued his veterinary practice. In recent years he continued to raise horses and in his retirement he enjoyed traveling. He was extremely proud of his four sons, adored his grandchildren and daughters-in-law, and worshipped his wife. He was preceded in death by his parents. Frederick is survived by his wife, Ann Garton of their home in McIntosh, NM; sons, John and his wife, Kyra Garton of Edgewood, NM; Robert and his wife, Amy Garton of Moriarty, NM; Daniel and his wife, Rachael Garton of Moriarty, NM; Bryan and his wife, Young Garton of Lakenheath, England; sisters, Katherine Crotty, Mary Wharton; and five grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Service held Monday, November 20, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary Chapel in Moriarty, NM David Wester will be officiating. In Lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or St. Jude Children Research.
