Velma G. Lewis, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1936, died Wednesday, October 25, 2006. She is survived by her children: Patricia Martin and husband, Robert of Albuquerque, Chuck Lewis and wife, Janet of Albuquerque, Katherine Vandenburg of El Paso, TX, John F. Lewis and wife, Alexis of Albuquerque, and Susan E. Lewis of Albuquerque; seven grandsons, Rob, Chuck, David, Marc, Scot, Jonathan, and Taylor; two granddaughters, Beth and Kellyn; five great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Francis A."Bud" Lewis in 1980 and one brother, John T. Gallagher. She was born on January 31, 1918 in San Antonio, TX. Velma met her husband while both were attending UNM and they were married on December 25, 1939. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and a past member of the Four Hills Country Club and The Petroleum Club. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren provided her with pride and happiness her entire life. She will be missed by all who knew her. Services will be held at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, on Monday, October 30, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
