Obituary for HARRELL

Col. Irving Jackson Harrell, Jr, USAF (Ret), 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1970, died Saturday, October 21, 2006. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Jo Harrell; two children, Stuart J. Harrell and wife, Martha of Phoenix, AZ and Chris Hall and husband, Robert of Scottsdale, AZ; five grandchildren, Kyle, Hilary, Michael, Alex, and Jeffrey and other relatives and friends. Col. Harrell was preceded in death by his parents, Irving Jackson Harrell, Sr. and Hortense Floyd Harrell; and one brother, Col William F. Harrell, USMC. He was born on November 29, 1919 in Vidalia, GA. Col. Harrell graduated from Georgia Tech, Stanford and the Harvard Business School (AMP). He entered the United States Army Air Corps in the summer of 1941. Col. Harrell was a survivor of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He spent three years in the South Pacific during WWII and thirty years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Colonel in 1970. He was awarded the Legion of Merit for his many years of distinguished service. Col Harrell was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Services will be held at The Cathedral Church of St. John, 4th Street at Silver SW, on Friday, October 27, 2006, 10:00 am with Canon Gary Meade and The Very Rev. John B. Haverland officiating. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 pm on the same day.
