Ramona Montoya, 89, passed away on October 9, 2006. Ramona was preceded in death by her husband, Gabe; daughter, Sylvia; and four sisters. Ramona is survived by her son, Ron Montoya and wife, Margie of Albuquerque; sisters, Dora Apodaca and Lucy Garcia; grandchildren, Yvette Montoya, Ramona Chesley and husband, Michael, Theresa Salmon and husband, Jack, Yvonne Drake and husband, Earl, Stephanie Martinez; and seven great-grandchildren. Ramona served as Bernalillo County Clerk from 1948 to 1952 and served as deputy county clerk and deputy treasurer in the 1980s. Ramona traveled extensively. She loved cooking, gardening, politics, and was an avid reader. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, October 12, 2006, at 7:00 p.m., Palm Chapel, Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 13, 2006 at 10:30 a.m., Immaculate Conception Church with burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
