Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday September 27, 2006

Peggy Ann Claghorn passed away Thursday, September 21, 2006 in her home in West Richland, WA. She was 49 years old. She was born on January 31, 1957 to Charles and Katherine Kyger. She grew up in Albuquerque, NM, and was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church where she met her husband of 25 years. While in Albuquerque, she was president of the Legion of Mary, a youth organization dedicated to the Rosary and to the service of the severely disabled and elderly. Peggy and her husband later moved to West Richland, WA to start a family in the ideal setting. She earned her associate degree in nursing from Columbia Basin College in 1984, just after the birth of their first child. Her family was her greatest joy in life, and she lived to care for others. Peggy was a dedicated nurse who worked at places such as Lourdes Counseling Center, Nueva Esperanza, and the Tri-City Chaplaincy. She attended Christ the King Catholic Church where she had been active as a religious education teacher, a LIFETEEN core member, and in the visitation ministries. She volunteered at Tapteal Elementary and was team mother for Little League, Babe Ruth, and Hanford baseball teams. She loved to watch her children thrive at Hanford High and participate in the school's drama program. She is survived by her parents; her husband, Ron; her three children, Katherine, 22, Kristina, 20, and Gerald, 18; her brothers, Kevin and David Kyger; and her sister, Mary Kay Hatfield. A Rosary Vigil and viewing will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 followed by the Funeral Service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday September 27, 2006 both at Christ the King Church in Richland, WA. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Tri-City Chaplaincy at 2108 West Entiat, Kennewick, WA 99336. How do you measure a lifetime of love?
