Hugo Stefani, 92, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, September 11, 2006. Hugo was born in Des Moines, IA on October 8, 1914, graduated from Mason City High School in 1932. He moved to New Mexico in 1936, and settled in Albuquerque. Hugo worked at Albuquerque Transit System as a supervisor and retired in 1978 after 33 years of dedicated service. He was also a Justice of the Peace during the 1960s. Hugo was an usher at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Lomas for many years. In 1981 he moved to Las Cruces after the death of his wife of 44 years, Odela Stefani. While living in Las Cruces, Hugo and his companion, Ree Hart, were active in the Big Band Dance Club. He was also involved with the L.C. Elks Lodge, L.C. Country Club, and the Local Chapter of AARP, as well as being involved with Retired Public Employees. In addition, he was involved in design and production of exercise equipment for Tom Young's Health Spas, he loved working with metals, gardening and tending his roses throughout his life, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. At 80, Hugo Stefani was able to make his only trip to Italy to travel to his homeland and meet family there. Hugo is survived by his children, Yolanda Morris of Vista, CA, Connie Young and husband, Tom of Santa Fe and Hugo Stefani, Jr. of Lake Mary, FL; grandchildren, Shelly Gunn, Jeff Gunn and wife, Melissa, Kurt Young and wife, JoAnna, and Stephanie Morris, Robert Morris Jr. and wife, Donna, Stephen Morris and wife, Dianne, and Yvonne Morris; great-grandchildren, Marshel Danner, twins Phoebe and Delilah Gunn, Valentino Young, Ryan Morris and wife, Jennifer, Michelle Morris, Christopher Coppedge, Marissa Morris, Mallori Morris; great-great-grandchildren, Zachary Morris; step-grandchildren, Karen Medrano, Tom Young Jr., Sharon Wittstruck, Virginia Lynn Young, Glenda Young, Brenda Young, Tyler Poe, Brandon Witters. Hugo was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Services will be held Thursday, September 14, 2006, at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends and guests may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, one hour prior to Service time. French Mortuary 1111 University Blvd. NE 843-6333
