Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Thursday September 07, 2006

Zoe Ann Wilcox, passed away to a better place, peacefully at her home on Saturday, September 2, 2006, after a long illness. Zoe was born May 27, 1935, in Belen, NM, to Dorothy and Oscar Dodd Standard. Zoe grew up in Belen, graduated from Belen High School, and then entered nurses training at Temple, Texas, at Scott-White Hospital. In her younger years, Zoe was a ballet and tap dancer and demonstrated toe dancing for interested students. She also was a member of the Rainbow Girls. Zoe married Jim Wilcox on July 3, 1986. Her beloved Jim preceded her in death on September 17, 1998. Zoe worked in the banking industry and retired from SunWest Bank in 1990, after 27 years of service. Zoe later went to work on a part time basis, for Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union, where she was employed until just before her death. Her interests were: bowling, painting on clothing, latch hook, sewing, and line dancing. Zoe enjoyed extensive traveling with friends and also the many trips she took with Sun Tours. She was a member of the Solo Club from 1967 to 1985. She attended the SunWest retiree lunches, and also attended monthly travel club luncheons. Zoe was also a member of "the Scarlet Sombrero Senioras" and the Vineyard's "The Red Hat Divas," Red Hat Groups. She was an amazing woman, who never complained, had a very positive attitude, and a great dry sense of humor. To her family and many friends who loved her, a huge void will be felt. A sincere thank you to the special friends who helped with Zoe's care in her final days.
