Obituary for GONZALES

Charles H. "Chaz" Gonzales, 59, has gone on to everlasting life after a two year battle with cancer. He passed away August 18, 2006 at the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM. A resident of Los Lunas, he was preceded in death by sisters Karen Lee Gonzales and Camelia Allender; and parents Adelina and Andres "Ace" Gonzales. Charles graduated from Rio Grande High School and the University of New Mexico and served honorably in the U. S. Air Force. He had worked as a juvenile probation officer for the State of New Mexico before the onset of his illness. He is survived by his son Mario and wife Lavette, step-daughter Celeste Ehlers, daughter Charleen of Alaska, grandchildren Jonathan, Lacey, Sidney, Zackery, and George, sister Lillian and husband Raymond Duncan, brothers Don and wife Julie, Andy and wife Nati, Edward and wife Mary Ann, Jim and wife Pauline, Norman and wife Lisa, and John and wife Dolores, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Pallbearers will be good friends of Los Lunas, Melvin Gallegos, Mike Gallegos, Frank Gurule, John Marine, Anthony Montoya, Terry Montoya, and Gabe Perea, and his six brothers will be honorary pallbearers. There will be a viewing on Monday, August 21st from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Garcia Mortuary at 717 Stover NW in Albuquerque. His life will be celebrated on August 22nd at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 5415 Fortuna Rd NW at 11:00 a.m., followed by a military burial at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Suite 300, Albuquerque, NM, 87111. Go Yankees!!!!
