Obituary for PATTISON

Natalie B. Pattison, 88, formerly of Albuquerque, NM, passed away peacefully at her home in Sequim, WA, on July 26, 2006. She was born in Hudson, NH, February 8, 1918. Natalie was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence W. Pattison of the U.S. Forest Service; her parents and step-mother; and two brothers. She is survived by son, Wayne L. Pattison and wife, Lynette of Kenai, AK; daughters, Linda M. Sentner of Kenenbunk, ME and Jennifer Pattison of Poway, CA; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; eight siblings as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She earned a degree in teaching in NH, an MA in Education at Northern Arizona University and an MA in Anthropology at the University of New Mexico. She taught school in NH, AZ and NM. She also worked at the Museum of Northern Arizona, the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology and the National Park Service at the Chaco Center. Her writings include her MA thesis on the Nogal Cliff Dwelling and studies of trails in Glen Canyon and Chaco Canyon. She created photo exhibits for the Chaco Center and the Maxwell, where she also assisted in the development of a major exhibit on Chaco archeology. She ran archeological field lab in Alaska, guided organized tours of the Southwest and assisted ecological studies of Lake Powell. For many years she volunteered on a chase crew during our Balloon Fiestas. Natalie's passion for travel took her to all seven continents as well as to many islands from New Guinea to Baffin Island. She held memberships in the Southwest Forest Service Amigos, the Archaeological Society of New Mexico and the Albuquerque Archaeological Society. A Memorial Service will be held at the 5th Avenue Retirement Center in Sequim, WA at 10:00 a.m. on August 26, 2006 and a Memorial Gathering at the University of New Mexico Alumni Chapel at 1:30 p.m. on October 8, 2006. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology.
