Billy Gene Hartbarger, 67, a life long resident of Albuquerque, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died on August 11, 2006. Billy died peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness. Billy was born on Dec. 4, 1938, in Kansas City, Mo., to William Creed and Dollie (Means) Hartbarger. He grew up in Albuquerque where he graduated from Valley High School in 1956. Billy enjoyed a successful career as a lumber salesman and was the owner of Hartbarger Cabinet Hardware. Billy cherished many long-lasting friendships throughout his life. He enjoyed traveling and visiting his grandchildren. Billy is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Gerry; his sons, Jerry Hartbarger and wife, Paula, Kevin Hartbarger and wife, Barbra; his daughter, Stefanie Hartbarger with Steve Conrad Jr.; and his loving mother-in-law, Mary Levesque. Billy also is survived by eight grandchildren, Jessica, Kristina, Timothy, Tyler, Alec, Andrew, Tayshia and Tristen; and along with many dear friends. The family would like to give special thanks to Drs. John Bettinger, Jennifer Benson, Neil Kaminsky and Melissa Klein who assisted over the years. The family also thanks Presbyterian Hospice Care for the extraordinary care given to Billy. Memorial services will be held at Vista Verde Mortuary in Rio Rancho, 4310 Sara Road, Rio Rancho, NM on August 14, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. A reception follows at the Vineyard clubhouse at 6118 Edith Blvd., Albuquerque, New Mexico.
