Suzanne Miller Riley December 29, 1928 - July 31, 2006 On Monday, July 31, 2006 Suzanne M. Riley (Suzie) passed away peacefully at Ann (her daughter) and Andrew Thompson's home in St. Charles, IL. Suzie was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) in February 2006. She was born and raised in Ohio and graduated from Bryan College in Tennessee with a major in English Literature. Suzie was married to Charles B. Riley (Chuck) for 39 years and is survived by 4 children and 8 grandchildren. She lived a long, vibrant life of service and charitable giving, preferring to donate her time to teaching English as a second language and other service projects for the church. She began her career as a TOEFL instructor in Frankfurt, Germany. As a volunteer working for the Catholic Charities organization, she was an instructor in Seattle and Albuquerque. Suzie spent 4 months in China teaching English. She was 63 years old when she volunteered for the Peace Corps and spent 2 years in Armenia. She traveled the world and her favorite city was Paris, France. She also loved classical music, riding her bicycle, gardening, and cooking. Suzie will be remembered for her energetic approach to life and positive attitude. During the 77 years of her life, Suzie touched many lives. She focused on helping others, guided by her strong Christian beliefs. Suzie will be deeply missed. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 18, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the CATHEDRAL OF SAINT JOHN, 318 Silver Avenue SW, Albuquerque, NM 87103 (phone: 505-247-1581). A memorial gathering will follow the service at the cathedral.
