Obituary for ST.CLAIR

Roy E. St.Clair, of Everett, WA, passed away on July 22, 2006 surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Ashland, OR on January 30, 1921. He is survived by his wife, Doris; brother, Robert; daughter, Sharon Partridge; sons, Stephen, Dennis, Bryan, Mark, and Robert and their spouses; stepchildren, Vincent Garcia, Barbara Tracey, Kathy Metzger, John Claybrook, Debra Hagglund, and their spouses. He had 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Roy graduated from Everett High School in 1939 and was a three-year honor student. After graduation he worked at Boeing as a mechanic, and the Everett Pacific Shipyard as a loftsman. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944 and did his basic training at Camp Hood TX. After basic training he attended Officer's Candidate School (OCS). Upon completion of OCS he was deployed over seas in the European Theater of Operation as a part of the 4th Army Infantry. In 1946 he returned to the United States and upon completion of active duty joined the Army Reserves. He retired from the military in January 1981 as a Major. In November of 1947 he was employed as a Security Inspector for the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) in Los Alamos, NM. In October 1951 he was promoted to Area Sergeant and was assigned as the Assistant Commandant of the Security School. Roy was then reassigned to the Physical Security Branch and served as a Security Specialist in numerous assignments in all phases of Security. He was reassigned to the Protective Force Section as Chief in February 1974 for the same agency now known as the Energy Research and Development Administration (ERDA). He retired in 1978 as a GS-13. Roy was proud and honored to have spent his entire life in the service of this country that he loved so much. Upon retirement Roy returned to Everett where he built his own home. He spent summers in Everett and winters in Mesa, AZ. Roy was a long-time member of both the 4th Army Pistol Team and the AEC Pistol Team. He won a national championship in the Marksman Class at Camp Perry in 1956. Roy was also a life member on the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the National Rifle Association. Roy was influential in the lives of young people in the community by his dedicated volunteer work. He was instrumental in organizing the Los Alamos Junior Rifle Association and the YMCA Gra-Y football and basketball programs. He had worked in the Boy Scout program and was Scout Master of Troop 122. A time of visitation will be held Monday, July 31, 2006 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Funeral Service Chapel, 1399 Luisa, Santa Fe, NM. The Funeral Service will be held at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM, Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at 11:00 a.m.
