Joe Manuel Garcia, 81, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, July 29, 2006. He is survived by his three children, Mary Lovato, Cecilia F. Pacheco and husband, Ron, and Carolyn P. Garcia, all of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Lueras; son, Johnny Garcia; his parents, Manuel C. and Marie E. Terrazas Garcia; three sisters, Margaret Tavasci, Carmen Santiago, and Regina Garcia; and brother, Edward J. Garcia. He was born on February 28, 1925, in Albuquerque. Joe served proudly in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a Superintendent and Manager of the Airport Mail Facility until his retirement. Joe was a member of the Postal Supervisors Union, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 401, American Legion Posts 99 and 13, Catholic War Veterans Post 4 and the Shrine of St. Bernadette. He was also a Gold Star father. Joe loved his dogs, his cat, Chester, and playing golf. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, on Monday, July 31, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. till Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Cremation will take place and a Memorial Mass will be held at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Road, NE. Thursday, August 3, 2006, at 9:00 a.m. Interment of cremated remains will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Rudy, Eddie, Michael, Johnny, and David.
