Obituary for BIERSTEIN

Helen Weatherwax Bierstein, July 11, 2006. She was a resident of Albuquerque, NM for 20 years, at La Vida Llena Retirement Center, Albuquerque. She was 95. She is survived by her husband, John R. Bierstein; two daughters, Anne Grenfell, of Westminster, MD; and Susan Director of Leesburg, VA; three grandchildren, Jennifer Boniface of Washington, DC; April Newton of Havre de Grace, MD, and Benjamin Finzel of Washington, DC; two great-grandchildren, Jenna and Jeffery Newton of Havre de Grace, MD, and a third one due in August. Mrs. Bierstein, a native of Michigan, graduated from Olivet College, Olivet MI, and did graduate studies at Lebanon Valley College, Lebanon, PA. She was employed as a social worker in both Michigan and Pennsylvania; as a newspaper journalist for the Harrisburg Patriot News; and finally as Executive Director of the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Harrisburg, PA. Mrs. Bierstein was President of the United Church Women in Hershey, PA; President of the Episcopal Church Women in Harrisburg and Hershey; and served for many years as Vice-President of Spiritual Frontiers Fellowship International. With her gift for writing, she penned several short stories, memoirs, and inspirational articles. She also lectured at seminars on near death experiences. A member of St. Chad's Episcopal Church, Albuquerque, Mrs. Bierstein was an active participant in resident social events, coordinating entertainment and Communication programs at La Vida Llena. Burial will be by Sunrise Funeral Options, Albuquerque, NM with internment at the National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. A Memorial Service was held at La Vida Llena Retirement Carter Hall, on Friday, July 14, 2006 at 2 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Spiritual Frontiers Fellowship International, P.O.
