Obituary for ENDEAN

Willis Endean, age 85, died peacefully at his home on May 31, 2006 with his loving family present. Willis was born in Port Huron, MI on August 9, 1920. He married Janet Miers on June 1, 1941 in Kahoka, MO. In 1947 they moved to Albuquerque from Bellwood, IL where Willis took a job as a gas pipefitter. In 1959 he completed construction of the current family home in the Hyder Park Neighborhood. In 1965 he purchased Jay Grear, Inc. and formed Endean Brothers Plastics with his brother, William Endean Jr., and became the first "Plastics" distributor in New Mexico. Upon his retirement in 1985, he transferred the family business to his daughter, Anita, who now owns the Endean Sign Company. One of his other accomplishments is he helped organize the construction of the first Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in the early 1950s. Willis was a kind, mild tempered, gentle man who had many passions in life; his Christian faith, reading, tennis, golf, sailing, computer surfing, genealogy, model sailboats, his children, and mostly, his wife of 65 years, Janet. Willis was preceded in death by his parents, Anne Hardwick Willis and William Endean Sr.; his brother, John Fredrick Endean; and his only son, David Willis Endean. He is survived by Janet, his wife; his brother, William Jr.; daughters, Leslie Endean Singh and husband, Dr. Jagdev Singh, Laurie Stanton Theiler and husband, Jim Theiler, Elisabeth Endean and husband, Terry Booze, Anita Endean, Rachelle Endean and husband, Greg Hawrylyshyn. Willis was also blessed with his grandchildren: Jesse William, Tammy, Lindsay, Carrie, Elena, Lisa, Sofya; and great-grandaughter, Alexiss. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday June 10, 2006 at the residence of Anita Endean, 340 Milagro Lane SW, Albuquerque 87105. His love will live on through his friends, colleagues, and family.
