Obituary for MYERS

Doris L. Myers, (Dottie), 78, Air Force wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 27, 2006. She fought a courageous battle against breast cancer. She was born in Ft. Worth, TX, on June 30, 1927 and attended Texas Wesleyan College. She accompanied her husband throughout the country on various assignments during their Air Force career, with Kirtland AFB being their last assignment. She and her husband, Jim, have resided in Albuquerque since 1972. She was preceded in death by two sons, David and Richard; Frank and Mildred Avriett, her adoptive parents. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Colonel James B. Myers, USAF (Ret.); daughter, Mikal E. Meyer and husband Jim of Fairfax, VA; son, Jeffery J. Myers and wife Susie of Blacksburg, VA: grandchildren Joan Barrett and husband Michael of Springfield, MO, Jeff Meyer and wife, Karyn of Springfield, MO, Barry Meyer of Arlington, VA., Matt and Rachel Myers of Blacksburg, VA; and four great-grandchildren. A special thanks to Presbyterian Hospice for their care, guidance and support. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, from 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. also at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Research and Treatment Center at the University of New Mexico Hospital, 900 Camino de Salud NE 87131.
