Eugene "Gene" E. Hine, 83, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, May 25, 2006. He is survived by his son, Stephen Hine of Albuquerque; son, James Hine and wife, Doris of Flemington, NJ; sister, Dorothy Grenard of Canon City, CO; and sister, Marilyn Kuhn of Lakewood, CO; and nephew, Max Grenard and wife, Maxine of La Junta, CO. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Agnes Hine in 1964. Gene retired from Santa Fe Railroad after 42 years of service in 1982. He was a member of Hiram Lodge #13, Socorro Lodge #9, and Knob Creek Lodge in Temple, TX. Gene was also a Shriner and a member of the Elks Lodge. He was a loving and devoted father who raised his two young sons alone. Gene will be remembered for his extensive travels following his retirement and his many stories about his adventures. In his latter years, many hours were spent reading and spending time with his friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park where he will rest next to his beloved wife.
