Obituary for HOOTON

Jacque W. Hooton, 78, lost the battle with breast cancer February 21, 2006, Jacque attended Southern Baptist College in Pocahontas, AR, during which time she met and married Hillman Hooton. In early 1953, they moved to New Mexico. Jacque attended the College of St. Joseph, and the University of New Mexico, earning Bachelor's, Master's, and Educational Specialist Degrees. She worked in the Albuquerque Public Schools for 31 years as a teacher, counselor, administrative coordinator, and principal, retiring in 1991. Since then, she remained active in breeding, raising, and racing horses, her lifelong passion. She was a member of Blake Road Baptist Church since 1955, living in the South Valley for over 50 years. Contributions in her memory may be made to: Cowboys for Cancer Research, P.O. Box 202, Dona Ana, NM 88032 (benefiting breast cancer research at UNM). The Memorial Service will be Saturday, May 20, 2006, 11:00 a.m., in the Youth Hall, on the Expo New Mexico State Fairgrounds. Enter Gate 6 on San Pedro near Lomas.
