Nichole Monique Chavez May 14, 1981 - May 14, 2006 Our Lord called his "angel" home on her 25th birthday, Sunday, May 14, 2006, after being treated for a sudden illness at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ. Nichole received her Associate's Degree in April, and was to begin completion of her Pre-med studies at UNM this fall. She was employed by T-Mobile, and was a very accomplished singer, songwriter, and musician both in English and Spanish. She had planned to be married in August of this year. Nichole was an incredibly bright and beautiful spirit who was liked by those who met her, and loved by all who knew her; she was an extremely great loss to all of us, and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her mother, Diane Chavez Garcia and partner, Al Muniz; father, Tomas Garcia; brother, Angelo Garcia; fiance, Walter Gordy; grandmothers, Lucille Hendren Chavez and Mary Davis; great-grandmother, Julie "Big Mom" Hendren; uncles, Mark Chavez, and Jose Garcia and wife, Alicia; aunts, Juli Chavez Riley and husband, Shawn, Debbie Chavez Kennedy and husband, Michael, and Maria Dillon and husband, Rush Tully; cousins, Ivan Chavez, John Kennedy, Michelle Kennedy, Sebastian Riley, Michael Dillon, and Crystal Dillon; great-aunts, Sylvia Cannon and husband, Dr. Joe Cannon, Evangeline Davis and husband, Ben, Frances Maldonado and husband, Tony, Elizabeth Urquhart and husband, John, and Anita Waligurski and husband, Walter; great-uncles, Lonn Hendren and wife, Jackie, Carl Hendren and husband, Helen, Martin Hendren and wife, Diane, David Hendren and wife, Flora, and Kenneth Hendren; she also survived by several special cousins, special relatives, and special friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Mel Chavez Jr.; great-grandfathers, Phil "Big Dad" Hendren, Mel Chavez Sr., and The Rev. Robert Y. Davis; and great-grandmothers, Norma Chavez and Mildred "Gaga" Davis. A Vigil Service will be held Saturday, 3:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel.
