Obituary for BACA

Daniel L. Baca, born September 22, 1959, passed peacefully with his beloved wife, Diane at his side on May 12, 2006 at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, CA. He is survived by his wife of nearly twenty years, Diane Hart Baca; father, Seff Baca of Albuquerque, NM; mother and stepfather, Norma and Al Telcocci of Denver, CO. Other survivors include his brother, David Baca of Madrid, NM; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Allen Walters of Denver, CO; sister and brother-in-law, Rebecca and Anthony Benenati of Los Angeles, CA; as well as nieces, Erica Walters and Anabella Benenati; nephews, Jason Walters, Joe Linfesty, Jordan Baca, and Matteo Benenati; and his dearly loved grandmother, Olga Torres Stark, of Denver, CO. Dan was born in Albuquerque, NM and graduated from Valley High School in 1977. He knew from an early age he wanted to work in the aerospace/computer field. Dan put himself through the University of Texas at Austin by working as a co-op student for Intel. He graduated in 1984 with a degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science. With his interest and knowledge in computers, he accepted a job upon graduation with Lockheed Missiles and Space in Sunnyvale, CA. Dan and Diane met at the University of Texas, where they were next door neighbors. After graduating, they set out for California together. Dan and Diane were married on August 24, 1986, eventually making their home in Pleasanton, CA. Dan spent 7 years at Lockheed, 7 years at Silicon Graphics, and 3 years at ETrade. He was employed at Earthlink at the time of his passing. Dan was a warm and caring person, working in what can be a hard-edged industry. He never lost his focus on what was truly important to him - loving family, dear friends, and good health. His warm smile, genuine kindness, and gentle ways will be missed by many. A Memorial Service for Dan will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2006 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church, 1801 LaCassie Avenue, Walnut Creek, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, East Bay Regional Parks Foundation, Supportcircle.com, or a charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church, 700 Granite Avenue, NW, Albuquerque, NM with Pastor Rodolfo Barrelra officiating.
