Margaret B. Montano, 79, known as Maggie to family and friends, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, May 1, 2006. She is survived by her daughters: Leonie Sandoval of Grants, NM, Marie Bailey and husband, Bob of Albuquerque, Juanita Nieto and husband, Robert of Albuquerque, Demetria Montano of Albuquerque, and Margaret Mason and husband, Mark of Woodstock, GA; one son, Martin Montano and wife, Bernadette of Albuquerque; three sisters, Libby Montoya of Albuquerque, Pilar Garcia of Albuquerque, and Pita Apodaca of San Rafael, NM; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Maggie was preceded in death by her husband, Cipriano Montano; son, Cipriano Montano Jr.; brothers, Max Baca and Navelino Baca; and son-in-law, Serafin Sandoval. She was born on August 19, 1926 in Cubero, NM to Salomon Baca and Josefa Sanches Baca where she lived on a ranch until marrying Cipriano Montano on July 20, 1946. They moved to Grants where she lived until 1969 when she moved to Albuquerque. Raising her family and several foster children, along with operating a small family restaurant, occupied the biggest part of Maggie's life. She also enjoyed dancing and traveling the United States visiting her children. The last four years of her life were spent at Paloma Blanca Nursing Home where she leaves behind many friends and memories. Maggie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A Rosary will be held at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE on Thursday, May 4, 2006, 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas at Tennessee, Friday, May 5, 2006, 11:00 a.m., Father Michael Cimino, Celebrant. Cremation will follow. Pallbearers will be Robert Nieto, Matthew Bailey, Mark Mason, Bob Bailey, Nestor Apodaca, and Sal Montoya. French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE 275-3500
