Obituary for SCALES

Ruth Richardson Scales, 38, passed away April 22, 2006 at her home in Summerfield, NC. She is survived by her husband, William David Scales of the home; parents, Erick T. and Connie Hall Richardson; one sister, Megan Richardson, all of Las Cruces, NM; and her maternal grandmother, Julia Hall Yelsits of Chandler, AZ. Mrs. Scales was born on February 2, 1968 in Mesa, AZ. She graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1993 with a Bachelors Degree in English. She was a member of Pi Kappa Phi, Phi Beta Kappa, and Golden Key National Honor Society. In 2001, she graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro with a Master of Library & Information Science Degree. Mrs. Scales was formerly from Albuquerque, NM. While there she was employed at Zimmerman Library at the University of New Mexico and Saint Michaels and All Angels Church. At the time of her death, Mrs. Scales was employed as the Technical Services Director at Hege Library at Guilford College in Greensboro. She was also an associate professor with the Library and Information Science Department at UNC-G. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at the church of the Epiphany, 538 Henry Street, Eden, NC. Visitation will follow in Moncure Hall at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Dona Ana County Humane Society, PO Box 6054, Las Cruces, NM 88004. Reynolds Funeral Service in Eden, NC is assisting the family.
