Obituary for FAJARDO

Virginio Fajardo, age 97, passed away April 11, 2006 at his residence in Santa Rosa following an illness. Virginio was born November 13, 1908 in San Ignacio, NM to the home of Patrocino and Abelina Duran Fajardo. He was reared and attended schools in San Ignacio. Virginio married Luz Segura November 7, 1932 in Santa Rosa. Virginio was a longtime Guadalupe County Rancher. He worked for the ASCS office in Santa Rosa as the County Executive Director for over 35 years. Virginio is a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish where he was involved with the San Jose Society for many years and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed doing carpenter work and tending to his cattle and his ranch. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Luz Fajardo, son, Raymond Fajardo; sisters, Eloisa Romero, Ismela Romero, Flora Segura; brothers, Jose Fajardo and Joaquin Fajardo. Survivors include his two daughters, Maggie Baca and Viola Chavez both of Santa Rosa; his grandchildren, Raymond Baca and wife, Frances of Dallas, TX, Patrick Chavez and wife, Julie, Andrew Chavez and wife, Mary all of Albuquerque and Yolanda Vela of Clovis; great-grandchildren; Justin Baca, Rico Baca, Felipe Baca, Andrew Chavez and Ariana Chavez. Also surviving is his sister, Alice Romero of Amarillo, TX; along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be conducted on Sunday, April 16, at 7:00 p.m. from St. Rose Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 17, at 11:00 a.m. also from St. Rose Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Merenciano Romero, Adolfo Romero, Tudy Romero, Dan Romero, Johnny Romero, Louie Romero and Fernie Chavez.
