Obituary for ARVIZU

Eleazar (Al) Vargas Arvizu, age 92, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, April 9, 2006. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sylvia Candelaria Arvizu; his parents, Jose Feliz and Maria Vargas Arvizu; brothers, Henry, Joe and James Arvizu; sisters, Artemesa Herrera and Mary Ward. Al is survived by his daughter, Lucia and husband, Amado Trujillo; his son, Joseph and wife, Joan Arvizu and his daughter, Mary Anne and husband, Joseph Flannagan; his grandchildren, Raphael, Phillip and Daniel Trujillo, Karla, Jossette, and Karl Arvizu; and his great-grandchildren, Alexa, Sophia, Nathaniel and Lauren Trujillo and Joseph and Helen Arvizu. Al was born in Globe, Arizona on July 31, 1914 and graduated from Arizona State University where he was a member of the varsity football and baseball teams. He lived and worked in Grants for 35 years as a teacher, principal and superintendent of the Grants Municipal Schools. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, April 18, 2006, 10:00 a.m., at St. Therese Little Flower Church, 3828 4th St. SW. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
