Obituary for NIX

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday April 14, 2006

Velma Ruth Nix, 70, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, April 12, 2006. She was loved by all who knew her. She was born in McLean, TX on August 12, 1935 and has been a resident of Santa Fe since 1953. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert Gene Nix; children, Stephen M. Nix and wife, Renee of Santa Fe, daughter, Tasha Budlong and husband, Todd of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Noel Nix, Thor Nix and wife, Lauren all of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Marilyn and Jaxon; one brother, Ereman Jones of Santa Fe; and other relatives and Friends. If you were a big bold rainbow I'd be your pot of gold. You would shine up in the sky so high So brightly and so bold. You would follow a summer storm So dreary and so dark, With bright majestic colors That calls out to even the smallest meadowlark. If you were an ocean With giant waves crashing upon the land I'd be with you always In every simple grain of sand. And if you were a river Running frantically to the sea I'd run along beside you Through the tangles of the trees. What if you were that tree Growing tall straight and true I'd grow right there with you To help guide you to the blue. And what if you were a puppy So bouncy and so new I'd be your best friends always We would run and play and that's what we'd do. But you're none of those things Yet all of them, too So I can be with you always And tell them often, I love you. Tasha Budlong Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 17, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. at McGee Memorial Chapel with John Monroe-Castle officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. McGee Memorial Chapel 1320 Luisa St. Santa Fe, NM 983.9151
