Obituary for TRUJILLO

DAVID SR. Mr. David (Cuat) Trujillo Sr., 75, went to be with his Lord on March 28, 2006 following a long illness and is now in Heaven with our Lord. David was born July 8, 1930 in Chilili, NM, to Delfino Trujillo and Casilda Valencia. His family moved to Albuquerque shortly after the death of his father. Mr. Trujillo is the beloved husband to Mrs. Mary (Sierra) Trujillo, married for 56 years. He is also survived by his loving children, David Trujillo Jr., Alice Roybal and husband, Jacob, Robert Trujillo, Merlinda Sandoval and husband, Bennie, Ted Trujillo and wife, Darla and Michael Trujillo; his recently widowed daughter-in-law, Sophie Trujillo and daughter, Bridgette; grandchildren, Lisa Rhoads, Becky Roybal, Melanie Roybal, Dylan Trujillo, Bobby Trujillo, Bennie Armando Sandoval, Dominic Sandoval, Teddy Trujillo Jr. and Marvin Becker; great-grandchildren, Anthony Rhoads, Alexandria Cordova and Ariana; a special friend, Ted Sandoval and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Trujillo was preceded in death by his parents, Delfino and Casilda Trujillo, his son, Richard Steve Trujillo, two sisters, Fela Tapia and Delfina Hanks.. Mr. Trujillo was a member of the Catholic Church and retired from the City of Albuquerque as a bus driver for 31 years. David served as a Sun Tran bus driver in Albuquerque. His warm smile, friendly manner and his dedication to his job garnered him numerous awards, and legions of fans in the process. To this day many throughout the community still remember David as the fun-loving bus driver that brightened each day that they rode on his bus. He was also well known and respected throughout Albuquerque for his political activism and community involvement. He helped campaign for his favorite candidates, whether they were running for a local or statewide office. He will be remembered by his friends and family as always having a clipboard with him to gather signatures for petitions. He was a people person and enjoyed doing anything he could to help better his community. Visitation for Mr. Trujillo will be Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. Final visitation will be Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Father Gene Gries. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Trujillo Jr., Robert Trujillo, Ted Trujillo, Michael Trujillo, Bennie Sandoval, and Bennie Armando Sandoval.
