Obituary for SMITH

HENRIETTA J. Our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend Henrietta J. Smith, 56, of Albuquerque, surrounded by her loving family, peacefully left this world to join her Lord on March 25, 2006. Henrietta is survived by her husband Vernon, friend and soul mate of 15 years; her children who she loved dearly; Stephen Nieto and wife, Valerie, Angela Nieto and fiance, Joey Herrera, Dana Smith, Katieri Brown and husband, Chris; her precious mother, Josephine Roybal; and brother, Richard Kozlowski. They had six grandchildren, Robert and Nicholas Nieto, Kelly and Matthew Tate, Mariah Smith and Elizabeth Brown. Henrietta was preceded in death by her father, Henry Roybal. Henrietta was born in Los Angeles, CA and moved to Albuquerque with her parents when she was 11. She graduated from Valley High School in 1968. She was a twenty year employee of the City of Albuquerque, Department of Senior Affairs where she was Manager of the Retired Senior and volunteer Program; she previously worked at the North Valley and Los Volcanes Senior Centers as Activities Coordinator. Henrietta loved working with seniors, touched the lives of many in and out of her work, and always had a kind word for everyone. She was very much loved by her family, the seniors, friends and co-workers and will be missed so much. A viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, March 30, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE. A private Catholic Mass will be held. Interment Services will be held on Friday, March 31, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in Mount Calvary Cemetery with James Perea, Adam Martinez, John Baca, Ronnie Lucero, Eddie Santillanes, and Edward Fragoso serving as casket bearers. The family extends their gratitude and appreciation to the New Mexico Cancer Center and Presbyterian Hospice for the care and support given Henrietta and her family during her illness; and to all the family and friends who visited, offered prayers, sent cards, flowers and well wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to help seniors in Albuquerque. Checks can be made payable to the RSVP Advisory Council, 714 7th Street S.W., Albuquerque, NM 87102.
