Obituary for GIBSON

Thomas Charles Gibson, born October 7, 1949 in Onawa, Iowa, the son of Wilfred C. and Esther R. (Nixon) Gibson, died March 9, 2006 from cancer. He grew up in the Blencoe area. He graduated from West Harrison High School. In March 1972 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. On December 27, 1973 he was united in marriage with Chong Sun Yi of Taegu, Korea. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer on February 1, 1999 after 27 years of service. Upon retirement he worked as a truck driver for the Ostrom Company of Olympia, Washington. He moved to Tucson, Arizona in February of 2002 and moved back to Olympia, Washington in October of 2003. In November of 2004, he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he became ill. Thomas is survived by his wife Chong; three daughters, Amy Burgess-Gibson of Littleton, Colorado, Laura (Mrs. Paul Gibbons) of Pensacola, Florida, and Lisa (Mrs. Brian Hill) of Albuquerque; one son Timothy of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Jesse Hill, Kenneth Brooks, Kyla Brooks, Nicholas Hill, Evelyn Gibbons; two brothers, Fred and John Gibson of Blencoe, Iowa; three sisters, Irene (Mrs. John McCord) of Blencoe, Betty (Mrs. Jack Morgan) of Onawa, and NoraBelle (Mrs. Gene Conyers) of Little Sioux, Iowa; nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilfred in August of 1995, his mother, Esther in December of 1984, his brothers Jackie in March of 1992, and Steve in November of 1974, and his daughter, Angela in June of 1972. Funeral Services will be held on March 14, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Alameda, 8818 Second St., with Pastor Ted With officiating.
