Obituary for MONTANO

Elias L. "Elly" Montano, 75, went to be with our Lord on February 27, 2006. He was born on October 30, 1930 in Del Norte, Colorado to Lee and Vita Montano. He joined the Navy in 1948 and served in the Korean War. He then lived in the Los Angeles area where he raised his family and was a letter carrier. He retired from the Hawthorne, California post office in 1986. He has resided in Albuquerque for the past 19 years. He was a member of the Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. For the last 12 years, he worked in the cafeteria at Del Norte High School where he made many friends he loved. Elly's passions in life were his family, fishing, and going on cruises. He was always busy with home improvements and woodworking. He loved to help others any way he could. He will be greatly missed and in our hearts forever. He is survived by his loving wife Carol; two daughters, Patricia Montano of Torrance, CA and Angela Swindle and husband Brock of Albuquerque; son, Charles Montano and wife Lupe of Palos Verdes, CA; two sisters, Louise Brito and Isabel Bell, both of Denver, CO ; one brother, Bill Montano of Del Norte, CO; five grandchildren, Elias Montano III, Brett, Brian, and Alex Montano, Adrienne Swindle; four great-grandchildren; cousin, Loretta Carrillo and husband Ralph of Bosque, NM; and several other cousins, nieces, and nephews. Elias was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Elias Montano, Jr. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2006 at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE. Mass will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Rd NE. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in California.
