Mr. Alfredo (Pop) L. Giddings, 91, born in Albuquerque, (Barelas) New Mexico on November 2, 1914 passed away on March 1, 2006. Alfredo is survived by a special friend and companion, Helen Fuentes; his three daughters, Agnes Amador and husband, Patrick, Patricia Abeyta and Chuck, Carmen Ronquillo and husband, Kenneth; two sons, John and wife, Mary-Helen, Charles and wife, Lucille; he is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 44 great- grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren; the extended Fuentes family and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, a daughter, Elizabeth, granddaughter, Christina and a sister, Trini Sandoval. Alfredo was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church where he served as an usher for over 50 years. He was retired from Santa Fe Railroad after 33 years. Alfredo was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #641 for over 60 years where he served as a Grand Knight and was a long standing member of the 4th Degree and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Visitation for Alfredo will be Friday evening after 6:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 609 14th SW (14th and Coal SW) with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Karen Aceves. Final Visitation will be Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper Ave. NW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Father Richard McGowan, S.J.. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Christopher Sanchez, Jonathon Archuleta, Richard Ronquillo, Michael Giddings, Chucky Giddings and Vidal Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be, Grayson Fuentes and Joseph Schubert. Here's to you Pops, a short one and a beer. Salud. We are still waiting for the ice cream and cookies.
