Bob R. Whittington passed away on February 13, 2006. Born November 27, 1926. Moved to Carlsbad, NM as a young man in the Potash Mining Industry. Re-located to Albuquerque in 1970. Owned and operated the Albuquerque Assembly and Distribution Freeport (AADF) Warehouse from 1976 until his retirement in 1993. Was instrumental in the legislative process in establishing the New Mexico Foreign Trade Zone. Was actively involved in organizations such as the New Mexico Shipper's Association, the Lions Club, the Gideon's Society, and long-time dedicated member of the Paradise Hills United Methodist Church. Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ruby Whittington of Albuquerque, NM; son, Gary Lunsford of Farmington, NM; son, Harlan Lunsford of Troutdale, OR; daughter, Cynthia Tobyas of Centennial, CO; four grandchildren, Tisha Keeter, Christy (Lunsford), Jimmy Tobyas, and Heather Tobyas; four great-grandchildren, Christopher Lunsford, Taylor Lunsford, Dominique Tobyas, and Victoria Tobyas. He was preceded in death by his son, Rob (Cary) Whittington; his father, Cary Whittington; and his mother, Mabel Whittington. Services will be held Friday, February 17, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Paradise Hills United Methodist Church, 4700 Paradise NW. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, NE. Friends and family may visit French Mortuary - Westside Chapel, from 1 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2006.
