Jose Benny Salazar, a resident of Los Ojos, NM, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2006 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Praxedes and Benita Salazar. Mr. Salazar was a Vietnam Veteran with the U.S. Navy and was a 23 year veteran of the Albuquerque Police Department. He was actively involved in his community in many different capacities. Mr. Salazar took great pride in the love of his family and his many friends. He is survived by his wife, Doris "Jessie" Salazar of Los Ojos; children: Scott Salazar and wife, Angela of Lewisburg, OH; Tina Driggers and husband, Bill of Albuquerque; Beniva Abeyta and husband, Johnny of Albuquerque; and Richard Salazar and wife, Alexandria of Los Lunas, NM; brothers and sisters: Manuel Salazar and wife, Merces of Albuquerque, Sylviano Salazar and wife, Mitzi of Utah, Donald Salazar and wife, Dolores of Albuquerque, Olivia Esquibel of Albuquerque, Praxedes Salazar of Los Lunas, Emilia Gonzales and husband,Anthony of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Visitation will held on Tuesday, February 14, 2006, at 6:30 p.m., followed by a Devotional Service at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home. Cremation will follow. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday evening, February 15, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. and San Jose Catholic Church in Los Ojos. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church in Los Ojos. Interment at San Jose Cemetery.
